Carve out a special area in your room so that three or four children can work comfortably together. Place a table and several chairs, plus a small shelf for storing writing materials, in a clearly defined area. If you have room, put a bulletin board in the area so that children can send messages to each other. Writing supplies, of course, will vary, but try to include the items listed below:

* alphabet letters

* crayons

* examples of children's writing

* markers

* paper (lined and unlined)

* pencils (thick)

* post-office box (can be made out of a shoe box)

* stampers

* stapler

* stationery, with envelopes

* stickers

* sticky pads

* typewriter or computer
