I am always looking for fun and exciting ways to revisit a concept. To work on spelling and vocabulary, I give each student a piece of poster chalk and have them go outside and write on the blacktop. I'll call out and segment a word for the students to write such as rip, bug, mop, fed, or bat. I also write the word on a small dry erase board. After the students have had a chance to sound out and write the word, I show the students how the word is spelled.

This activity is terrific for meeting the needs of all your students. Make the activity more challenging and call out digraphs and blends such as shut or split for the students to spell.
