Try a fall-hued spin on color-by-number pictures with this activity that highlights sight words your students are learning. The materials are simple, and kids will love matching words with colors to create this fine-feathered fellow for the Thanksgiving festivities.
What You Need
Tissue paper (red, orange, yellow, brown, and gold)
Elmer’s liquid glue
3/8” googly eyes
What to Do
1 | Using scissors, cut all five tissue paper colors into 1” x 1” squares. You will need 20-30 squares for the larger areas on the template, fewer for the smaller areas.
2 | Print the Color Key and glue one square of tissue paper to each square on the color key. Share the Color Key with students by making copies and/or projecting your original key.
3 | Distribute a Turkey Template to each student. Students should use the key to determine which color each section of the turkey should be, and then crumple up and glue down pieces of matching tissue paper until the section is filled.
4 | After covering each section of the turkey with tissue paper, glue one googly eye onto the head of the turkey.
