What is My Books Student Select?

 

The My Books Student Select (MBSS) is a state, district or school funded, research-based, impactful classroom reading program for students in PreK–8th grade. This program allows all children to choose and own their own books in order to build their home libraries.

 

Based on a student choice model, every student selects their own book packs from grade-appropriate flyers curated by children’s book experts.

 

Every teacher receives 5 books for their classroom libraries, and families receive helpful resources—in their first languages—to support their child’s reading at home.

How are the books selected?

 

Scholastic’s professional editors create grade-appropriate collections of five titles from top publishers. Each collection includes bestselling and classic fiction and nonfiction by popular authors and illustrators on a wide range of topics and interests. 

 

What can I share with my students’ families about My Books Student Select?

 

  • The books your child is bringing home are theirs to keep at no cost to them. Your child will get to choose a book pack with this program to build their home library.

 

  • Every child in the school is included in the program. No child will be left out.
 
  • Your child’s books will arrive in our class based on the delivery window the state, district or school has determined.

How do I Get Started?

 

  1. Register any time at scholastic.com/mybooksstudentselect
  2. Sign up with your preferred email and MBSS School Access Code
  3. Choose a username and password

 

How do I find my school access code?

 

The school access code will be printed on the label with the packet of student ordering fliers you will receive.

Submitting Student Orders

When You’re Ready to Place Your Students’ Orders:

 

  1. Sign in with your username and password
  2. Click ORDER NOW
  3. Follow the prompts to place your orders
  4. Email [email protected] if you need extra help

 

Can I edit or review student orders?

 

You can edit or review student orders until your ordering window due date. On the Student Order page, view orders by student and book selection. Use the trash icon to remove a book, and then add a replacement title.

 

How do I know which flyer code to use?

 

Your flyer code is listed on the back of the student order forms.

Ordering deadlines:

 

Please submit all student orders by the due date. Your school point of contact will have the due date for your school.

 

How do I know my class order went through successfully?

 

A pop-up confirmation message will appear when you hit SUBMIT.

 

You will also receive a confirmation email after the orders are processed. Expect to receive your student orders 7-10 business days after your ordering window closed. If you do not receive your order confirmation email or have trouble placing your order, please contact [email protected].

 

Can I use more than one flyer for my classroom?

 

No. Please order from the flyer that is sent to you. If the flyer you receive is not the correct grade level for your students, contact us at [email protected].

 

Can I share my access code with a teacher friend at another school?

 

Your access code applies only to teachers at your particular school, so please do not share it.

Book Box Delivery

Where do you ship our books?

 

We ship Book Boxes directly to your school addressed to individual teachers.

 

When will my students receive their books?

 

Students receive their books about 7-10 business days after the order due date. Large orders may come in more than one box. We make every effort to keep every title in stock, but any out-of-stock books will ship separately as soon as they are available. 

 

Teacher Tip: When your Book Box arrives, it’s time to celebrate reading with your class!

 

Can my class track our Book Box?

 

UPS tracking information is included in the shipping confirmation email. We want every child to be happy with their book choices. For replacement books or missing items, please email [email protected].
