Scholastic Diversity and Inclusion Bookseller Scholarship

Scholastic is proud to continue its support of the Diversity and Inclusion Bookseller Scholarship for a second year, designed to uplift marginalized booksellers and bookstores by providing access to the ABA Children’s Institute. This year’s scholarship will support attendance at the 13th annual Children’s Institute, taking place June 11–14, 2025, in Portland, Oregon.

With a mission to empower bookselling professionals from underrepresented communities, the scholarship helps recipients build sustainable careers, expand their professional networks, and connect with a supportive community working to address the challenges facing independent bookstores.

Two applicants for the Scholastic Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship will be chosen at random to receive free registration for the Children's Institute, complimentary hotel accommodation during the event  and reimbursement for travel expenses as arranged by Scholastic (estimated value up to $2,500).

Eligibility requirements:  NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.  Applicants must be legal U.S. residents, at least 18 years old, currently residing in the United States, who are ABA members and identify as BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA+ and run brick and mortar bookstores, pop-up bookstores, mobile bookstores, or online bookstores. The program is also open to such individuals  planning to open a bookstore in the future.

The deadline for 2025 submissions is now closed
