Together, read the text and look at the illustrations on the front and back covers. What do you think happened to Fly Guy? How do you know? Discuss!
WHILE READING
As you read, pause and think, talk, or write about these questions:
After reading Chapter 1: What does Fly Guy eat that makes him feel sick? Where does he find it? What does he do after he eats it?
After reading Chapter 2: When Fly Guy takes Buzz for a ride, Fly Guy says he’s hungry. What does Buzz suggest they do? Then what does Fly Guy do? Why does Buzz look a little worried on page 15? Who’s mad on page 16?
After reading Chapter 3: How does the scientist help Buzz and Fly Guy with their problem? What happens after the scientist helps them?
AFTER READING
Does Fly Guy like to eat? How can you tell? How many times does Fly Guy eat in the book? (Go back and count!) Imagine that you could only eat FIVE things for the rest of your life—gasp! What would they be? Make a list and discuss. (And yes, pizza counts as one thing. 🙂)
Literacy Tip
Fly Guy is a series of books. In this book in the series, before Chapter 1, the author includes a quick summary. A summary is an explanation of what has happened in the series so far. It helps readers follow the events and understand who the characters are in the book, especially if they haven’t read other books in the series.
