Under My Umbrella

Let your creative juices flow with this rainy-day gift.

Ages

8-10

What you need:

  • Solid-colored umbrella
  • Fabric pens
  • Newspapers

What to do:

  1. Spread out newspapers on the floor and open up the umbrella. (It's not bad luck in this case!)
  2. Before starting, discuss the person who will be using the umbrella — what kinds of things might cheer her up on a rainy day? Your child may want to sketch out her ideas on paper before beginning.
  3. Use the fabric pens to decorate the outside — and even the inside — of the umbrella.
  4. Let the umbrella dry for a day or two before closing or using in the rain.
