Looking ahead to the month of March, here are some free resources, lesson plans, and activities for teachers and parents to use with kids.
As you know, March is Womens History Month. Take a Common Core approach to Womens History Month with our special edition of The Scholastic Tribune (PDF), which features excerpts from Blys Ten Days in a Mad-House (1887) and Around the World in 72 Days (1889). Weve also put together five evidence-based questions, a brief chronology of Blys life, and a CCSS suggested booklist for Womens History month here.
?Help your students learn about great women with these lesson plans, online activities, profiles, and chronologies.
?St. Patricks Day is also right around the corner. Celebrate the holiday with a video about Ireland, digital magazines that explore leprechauns and the color green, lots of fun crafts, and more!
?Dont miss out on our newest virtual field trip! On March 5th, Scholastic will release a new FREE virtual field trip to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History featuring international bestselling author David Baldacci. The Decoding History virtual field trip, to air on March 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM ET / 10:00 AM PT, will explore some of American historys greatest mysteries and will be globally accessible for free on www.scholastic.com/decodinghistory.
