Looking ahead to the month of March, here are some free resources, lesson plans, and activities for teachers and parents to use with kids. As you know, March is Women’s History Month. Take a Common Core approach to Women’s History Month with our special edition of The Scholastic Tribune (PDF), which features excerpts from Bly’s “Ten Days in a Mad-House” (1887) and “Around the World in 72 Days” (1889). We’ve also put together five evidence-based questions, a brief chronology of Bly’s life, and a CCSS suggested booklist for Women’s History month here. ?Help your students learn about great women with these lesson plans, online activities, profiles, and chronologies. ?St. Patrick’s Day is also right around the corner. Celebrate the holiday with a video about Ireland, digital magazines that explore leprechauns and the color green, lots of fun crafts, and more! ?Don‘t miss out on our newest virtual field trip! On March 5th, Scholastic will release a new FREE virtual field trip to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History featuring international bestselling author David Baldacci. The “Decoding History” virtual field trip, to air on March 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM ET / 10:00 AM PT, will explore some of American history’s greatest mysteries and will be globally accessible for free on www.scholastic.com/decodinghistory. Want an inside look at our free resources for the upcoming month BEFORE we post them on OOM? Email me, Alex, at awladich@scholastic.com and you will be put on our email list!
