The Festival of Lights. Also, Dinosaurs.

It’s a rare year when a Hanukkah book gets sent my way, so it was fun to see that Jane Yolen and Mark Teague’s latest book in the Dinosaur series is How Do Dinosaurs Say Happy Chanukah? In case you don’t know this series, it’s a bit like Miss Manners for toddlers. We see all different dinosaurs as stand-ins for children, misbehaving in various ways for the first half of the book, then exemplifying good behavior in the second half of the book. This Hanukkah book is no different. Does a dinosaur fuss through candlelight prayer, peek at the presents, grab up all the gelt, and snatch the dreidels all for himself? No! A dinosaur sings every prayer, shares the dreidel, eats up all his his latkes and helps clear away the dishes. So how do dinosaurs say Happy Chanukah? Apparently in lovely verse with gorgeous Mark Teague illustrations. (PS – Hanukkah or Chanukah? What’s you’re preference?)
