Scholastic Parent & Child magazine revealed their 100 Greatest Movies for Kids list this morning, and its got all of us here thinking about the movies we love! All of the films on the final list were nominated by Hollywood insiders, readers of the magazine, and the magazine editors. Next, the list of 100 movies was ranked on criteria like plot, visuals, box office success, and (most importantly) connection to families and teachable moments for kids. At the top of the list are great films like The Wizard of Oz (#1), E.T. (#2), and Mary Poppins (#3). The list also includes great classics like The Sound of Music (my personal favorite #12) and new favorites like Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (#15) and Wall-E (#16). Take a look at the full list in Scholastic Parent & Childs February/March issue, and at www.scholastic.com/100movies which movies are you excited to see there, and which do you wish had made the list?
