These five strollers are reversible — they can be used in either a toward-facing or forward-facing position. Scholastic Parent & Child magazine presents these brands for convenience only; we do not recommend them specifically. Please consult product reviews before making your purchase.

  1. BOB Infant Car Seat Adapter

    Single ($54) or Duallie ($89)

    Available at

Works best with: Britax Companion, Graco Snug Ride, Graco Safe Seat, Peg Perego Primo Viaggio SIP

This solid and secure seat-to-stroller attachment proves useful when hitting the road or simply taking a stroll. It folds quickly for easy storage and includes an accessible tray for sippy cups and afternoon snacks. You can use the BOB car seat from the time your little tike is 8 weeks old up until he’s about 55 lbs. But a word to the hasty — read the instructions carefully, since installation can be frustrating.

  2. Bumbleride Flyer

    Available at

With the Bumbleride Flyer, the world is your obstacle course. Weighing in at just 19 lbs, it’s easy to maneuver, and its reversible handle allows the baby to face either way. The front- and rear-wheel locking system, lightweight aluminum frame, and four-position recline backrest also make it a sleek ride. Beware the regular maintenance the Bumbleride requires; the wheels will squeak unless cleaned and lubricated.

  3. Peg Perego Pliko Switch

     Available at

The reclining backrest, two-way umbrella, and hood that transforms into a sun canopy make the Pliko Switch especially good for power walks and park jaunts. Its front wheels swivel or lock, and back wheels have new centralized brake cables. Better yet, it stands upright when closed. Size may be the only problem, since the Pliko Switch is a bit hefty for store aisles and when folded up.

  4. Chicco Cortina

    Available at

The Cortina’s masculine design will please Dad, and its sturdy, lightweight frame holds up to 50 lbs. Both the parent’s tray and child’s tray are easy to remove and are dishwasher-safe, and its multi-position “memory recline” remembers the last position that the seat was in when folded. In its brand new color for 2009, Fuego, this stroller is ready to roll.

  5. Kolcraft Contours Options 3 Wheeler

    Available at

This baby-mobile literally elevates your baby to eye level or to a restaurant table. The comfortable handgrip enables one-handed strolling, even over curbs. Although bulky when folded up, this stroller boasts a rotating snack tray with extra-large drink holder, removable micro-fleece infant headrest, and wind-resistant nylon fabric that is easy to wipe clean.
