Guided Nature Tours at Family-Friendly Beaches

Use binoculars and magnifying glasses to explore salt marsh and coastal dune habitats during this hour-long walk. You might see birds, crabs, rabbits, lizards, and dolphins! Sundays at 1:30 p.m.; free. 

Once an active military base, this area at the edge of the Big Apple teems with wildlife. Park ranger–led tours introduce the maritime forest, the Atlantic shore, and a freshwater pond. Check the website for dates and times. 

From June 1 to July 31, you can look for loggerhead sea turtle nests after sunset. Two guided tours offered nightly; reservations required; $12 per person.

Famous for its ancient towering trees, this park also offers 40 miles of pristine coastline. Join a 2-hour tidepool walk led by a park ranger naturalist to meet sea stars, anemones, limpets, and more! Check the website for date and time details.
