Unfortunately for her younger brother, Rachel dreamed of being a teacher at an early age - and tested out a variety of dubious "lessons" on him. She diverged a bit in college and majored in biology at Rice University (Go Owls!) but revisited that childhood dream by participating in the Teach For America program upon graduation, teaching high school science in Newark, New Jersey. She has continued to work in education; teaching a variety of science classes at the secondary level, working in college admissions and as a curriculum specialist for a STEM outreach program. Now, as a momma to three little girls, she utilizes all those science content ideas in creating activities for her daughters and shares them on her blog, Momma Owl's Lab.
