Looking for a few new books for your young readers? Home and school are on everyone’s minds this time of year, and these book recommendations are all about family and school life. These book selections below will surely capture your kids' interests — and tickle their funny bones.

Bobs and Tweets #2: Perfecto Pet Show by Pepper Springfield

Ages: 5-8
In Bobs and Tweets #2: Perfecto Pet Show by Pepper Springfield, Ms. Pat’s class is having a pet talent show and friends Lou Tweet and Dean Bob need to decide on their acts. Both the Tweet family and the Bob family will be attending the show so a buzz of activity is expected.

If your kids enjoyed Dr. Seuss books when they were younger, they will enjoy the rhyming text and silly illustrations in this beginning reader chapter book. Plus, your children will learn powerful lessons about friends helping friends and family members working together to help others. You can also enjoy the first Bobs and Tweets book titled Bobs and Tweets #1: Meet the Bobs and Tweets.

Toby Goes Bananas by Franck Girard

Ages: 7-10
Kids who love funny books and prefer the graphic novel format will be delighted with Toby Goes Bananas. Author Franck Girard introduces us to eight-year-old Toby, who has a knack for making just about any normal everyday experience into a comical situation. When his teacher tells him that his parents need to come into school regarding his excuses for not turning in homework, he fires back that the dog ate his parents.

Toby causes many laughs (even though his parents and teacher don’t always find his humor so entertaining). The illustrations alternate back-and-forth between a graphic novel layout and pages with full-color illustrations, keeping the books' layout interesting and dynamic.
