1.
ENTER FOR A CHANCE TO WIN. To enter for a chance to win the Scholastic LitLeague Seven Strengths Contest (the “Contest”), go to www.scholastic.com/litleague-contest and show us how you foster any one of the Seven Strengths at your school or in your community. You will be entered in the Contest when you complete the online form on the website above and submit your entry. Entries can be submitted via video, voice notes, pictures, or a written entry. No mechanically reproduced entries will be accepted. All entries must be received no later than May 31, 2019. Limit one entry per person and per email address. Scholastic will not confirm receipt of entries.

Released Parties (as defined below) assume no responsibility for (a) lost, misdirected, damaged, stolen, illegible, failed, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled, delayed, or late entries, emails, or mail; (b) telephone, electronic, program, network, Internet, or computer delays, deletions, interruptions, or other failures or errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, printing, or otherwise of any kind; or (c) any human error that may occur in the processing of any entry or otherwise in the administration of this Contest, nor are they responsible for any theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, whether caused by the sender or any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest. Proof of online submission of the entry does not constitute proof of delivery. In case of a dispute, entries will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.. Contest entries are the property of Scholastic and will not be returned.

2.
ELIGIBILITY. The Contest is open to educators, leaders, administrators, and community organization leaders who work with children in Grades K–5. Must be a resident of the 50 United States, age 18 and older. Void where prohibited by law. Employees of Scholastic and its affiliates, dealers, advertising and promotional agencies, and manufacturers or distributors of Contest materials and their immediate families (spouse, parents, children, siblings and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and household members of each, whether or not related, are not eligible to participate. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. This promotion is intended for viewing in the United States only and shall only be construed and evaluated according to United States law.

ENTRY. By submitting an entry, the entrant agrees that Scholastic shall own the entry (including all rights embodied therein) and that it and its designees may exploit, edit, publish, use, adapt, or modify any entry and elements embodied therein, online (including social media), in print, film, television, or in any other media, now or hereafter known, for marketing, advertising, promotional, or other purposes throughout the world, in perpetuity, without any additional compensation, notification to, or permission of the entrant, except as prohibited by law. Scholastic reserves the right to disqualify any entry it deems to be offensive or inappropriate, at its sole discretion, including without limitation, for depicting or mentioning sex, violence, drugs, alcohol, and /or inappropriate language. Further, an entry may not defame or invade the publicity or privacy rights of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person’s personal or property rights or any other third-party rights. Any personally identifiable information submitted in connection with an entry shall be subject to Scholastic’s privacy policy: scholastic.com/privacy.htm.

By entering the Contest, each entrant warrants and represents the following with respect to his/her entry: (a) entrant is the sole and exclusive owner of the entry; (b) the entry is entrant’s own creation and original work; (c) the entry does not infringe any rights of any third parties; (d) any third parties mentioned in the entry have given entrant appropriate consent to be included and used as permitted herein; and (e) entrant’s participation in the Sweepstakes complies with any applicable school or school district policies. The Sponsor reserves the right to request proof of these consents in a form acceptable to the Sponsor from any entrant at any time. Failure to provide such proof may, if requested, render the entry null and void.

JUDGING CRITERIA. Entries will be judged by Scholastic Education professionals based on the following criteria: clarity and creativity of the story, and how it might inspire other educators.

DRAWING AND AWARDING OF PRIZES. The winner will be determined based on the criteria outlined above. Reviews of entries will be held on or about June 10, 2019. The Contest winner will be notified by phone, email, or mail no later than July 1, 2019. If the potential winner cannot be reached within five (5) calendar days from the first notification attempt, such person shall be disqualified and an alternate winner will be selected. The winner must provide the Sponsor with the winner’s physical mailing address within 48 hours of the Sponsor contacting the winner. Prize awards are subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules.

Prizes will be sent to a school or nonprofit educational organization of the winner’s choice. The designated school or organization shall be responsible for payment of any and all federal, state, or other tax liabilities (including income taxes) on any prize received. Prize is nontransferable, not returnable, and cannot be sold or redeemed for cash. No prize substitution is allowed, except by the Sponsor in case of unavailability, in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded.

Scholastic reserves the right to not award a prize if, in its sole discretion, it does not receive a sufficient number of eligible entries.

6.
PRIZE DETAILS.
One (1) prize ARV ($2,500) will be awarded that includes:

  • 26 Student Workout Books
  • Depending on the grade selected:
    • K–2: 546 Scholastic trade books (21 titles, 26 copies each)
    • 3–5: 468 Scholastic trade books (18 titles, 26 copies each)
  • 100-book 7 Strengths Library (50 titles, 2 copies each)
  • Class set of 7 Strengths stickers
  • Class set of 7 Strengths badges
7.
PUBLICITY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY. The winner agrees that (except where prohibited) Scholastic may, but is not obligated to, use the winner’s name, picture, portrait, likeness, and voice for advertising and promotional purposes without further compensation. The winner also agrees to participate in a LitLeague case study conducted by Scholastic once the program is implemented by the winner. Any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with this Contest, or any prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and shall be resolved exclusively by arbitration. Any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Contest, but in no event shall attorneys’ fees be awarded.

8.
MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS. Any person attempting to defraud or in any way tamper with this Contest will be ineligible for prizes. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of the Contest, who act in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner or who are in violation of these Official Rules, as solely determined by the Sponsor, will be disqualified and all associated entries will be void.

If the administration or integrity of the Contest is compromised or corrupted at any time, the Sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the Contest.

Entrants further agree that the Sponsor, its advertising and promotional agencies, and their respective officers, directors, agents, and employees (collectively “Released Parties”) will have no liability or responsibility for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind, including but not limited to death, injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property that may be sustained in connection with this Contest, the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity, or accepting, possessing, using, or misusing any prize, and that they will be held harmless against any claims of liability arising directly or indirectly from the prizes awarded. Released Parties are not responsible if any prize cannot be awarded or enjoyed due to travel cancellations, delays, or interruption due to weather, natural disaster, acts of war or terrorism, or other causes beyond the Sponsor’s reasonable control. Released Parties shall not be liable for any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from entering the Contest.

9.
WINNER’S LIST. For the name of the winner, send a stamped, self-addressed envelope after July 15, 2019, and for receipt by September 15, 2019, to Amala Williams, Scholastic Inc., 557 Broadway, New York, NY 10012. The name of the winner will be made available until September 15, 2019.
