MIELA FORD grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from the Philadelphia College of Art. She now lives in Rochester, New York. She wrote her first book, Little Elephant, for photographs taken by her mother, Tana Hoban. Since then she has done both words and pictures for her own books, including Bear Play, Follow the Leader, and Watch Us Play. She has also written the words for such favorites as Sunflower and What Color Was the Sky Today?, both illustrated by Sally Noll.
