Marguerite Henry

Born: Milwaukee, United States of America

Marguerite Henry wrote numerous horse-themed stories for children, including King of the Wind, Misty of Chincoteague, and Stormy: Misty's Foal. In 1949, she won the annual Newbery Medal for King of the Wind. In 1961, Misty of Chincoteague was adapted into the film Misty. She was born on April 13, 1902 in Milwaukee, Wis., and she passed away at the age of 95 in San Diego, Calif.
