Barbara Ann Porte

Barbara Ann Porte has written books for all ages, including picture books, chapter books, young adult novels, and short stories for children and for adults. Awards include ALA Notable and Best Books of the Year citations, American Bookseller “Picks of the Lists,” and others. She was a children's librarian for twenty years, and is also a noted storyteller. She has told stories, presented programs, lectured, taught writing, in schools museums, libraries, and universities. A typical program will include a story, discussion of ideas and how to get them, the writing process with emphasis on revision, and a question/answer period. Programs are individually planned, and school input is welcomed. Prefers groups of about 50, with programs conducted in library/media centers whenever possible.
