Alex Shearer's novels The Hunted and The Speed of the Dark were short-listed for the U.K's prestigious Guardian Children's Fiction Prize. He has written more than a dozen books for both adults and children, as well as many successful television series, films, and stage and radio plays in the UK. His chapter books include Professor Sniff and the Lost Spring Breezes and The Summer Sisters and the Dance Disaster. His latest book, Canned, follows the adventures of twelve-year-old Fergal Bamfield when he discovers a message inside a tin can.
