Text Studies: The Core of Core Clicks
Core Clicks multimedia instructional units are built around multiple encounters with high-interest, curriculum-connected texts. Text Studies guide teachers and students through each text three times, with a different learning objective for each of the three “reads,” giving students a deeper level of comprehension with every pass. Interactive questions and tasks throughout focus on building a “Spotlight Skill,” a crucial close- reading skill required by higher academic standards. A Text Study may be completed in 4 instructional sessions ranging from 20 minutes (for Grades K-2) to 30 minutes (for Grades 3-5).

- Students read the text again and answer text-dependent questions to gain mastery of concepts and content

Encourage students to think deeply and critically about the text
- Students use this read to focus on higher-level thinking questions that will lead to true ownership of the text
- Pop-ups that ask “Did You Discuss?” summarize key discussion points
Following the three reads, review activities can be completed in one additional instructional session in your ELA block
