The Impact of Scholar Zone Extended Learning and Summer

Proven, Measureable Success

Scholar Zone Powered by BellXcel is built upon a third-party validated, decades-long track record of improved student and educator outcomes.

Rigorous internal and external third-party evaluations confirm that BellXcel’s summer and afterschool models have strong, positive impacts on the academic and social-emotional skills of scholars. In a recent National Summer Learning Report, Scholars experience on average two months of academic gains in literacy and two and a half months in math during the summer months.

Scholars experience increased engagement and interest in learning and enter the school year with increased eagerness to learn. They benefit from strengthened key social-emotional skills and growth in social-emotional competencies such as growth mindset and self-confidence. A two-year study commissioned by the Board of Education for Montgomery County Public Schools, MD, found that BellXcel increased students’ math and reading scores.

In a recent Bellwether Education Partners study, 100 percent of teachers reported that BellXcel improved their approach to teaching in the new school year and found the model to be energizing and motivational.

In a new national survey led by RAND, teachers using BellXcel were more likely to report that summer professional learning helped improve their use of student-centered practices during the school year.

Built by educators for educators, Scholar Zone Powered by BellXcel empowers our partners to improve student and educator outcomes in ways that continue into the school year.
