Twitches: The Power of Two by H.B. Gilmour and Randi Reisfeld.

Since I've already finished book 1 and have moved on to book 2, CJ asked me to write a little bit about T*witches and why you're going to love it. So, here goes:

T*witches is a story about twin sisters — Cam and Alex — that were separated at birth. One grew up with a rich family on the East Coast, the other in a shack in Montana. While Cam is on vacation in Montana, she runs into Alex who just happens to be working at the amusement park where Cam and her best bud, Beth, are hanging out. This seems like just too much of a coincidence at first until you realize OTHER forces brought them together and this is where the story really begins. In the first book, they realize they are sisters after a tragic event happens to one of them ... then they figure out that they are witches. After reading the first book, I immediately read book 2 ... and I'm totally hooked. Let's just say that finding out they are twin witches (Twitches) is JUST the beginning of their adventures!

We had the chance to talk to H.B. Gilmour and Randi Reisfeld -- the supercool authors of Twitches. Here's what they had to say!

CJ: How did you come up with the idea for Twitches?

While working on the book series Clueless, we discovered that we were totally in tune with each other and decided, hey, why don't we create a series of our own? Twitches was born out Randi's fascination with The Parent Trap and HB's fascination with the randomness of life.

Lesa: Are you guys, like, twins? Do you think everyone has a twin somewhere?

Twins? We are not. But while writing, we do act like sibs sometimes — picky and snippy, hyper-critical and hyper sensitive. But we really love and respect each other, which is why the books are much better than if we were writing alone.

We doubt everyone has a twin somewhere, but we do think most of us secretly wish we had a twin ... someone who shares not just DNA, but perfectly understands our feelings, thoughts, fears, and joys!

Kate: Cam and Alex have the most amazing necklaces ... how did you guys think of them and can we get them anywhere?

Cam and Alex were named for the powerful twins of Greek mythology, Artemis and Apollo. Apollo was the god of sun and Artemis was goddess of the moon. It was only fitting that Cam (Apolla) have a sun symbol and Alex (Artemis) have a moon symbol. By chance, Randi found a single necklace very much like the one we were imagining. HB thought there should be two separate charms that strengthen the twins' powers when linked — two halves making a whole, like the girls.

Right now T*witches necklaces aren't available, but maybe someday ...

Jenni: If you had premonitions like Cam, what would hope to see? And is there anything that would freak you out?

We do have premonitions. Everyone does — including you! Well, instincts and intuitions anyhow. It's hard not to second-guess every thought and feeling that comes our way though. We may not "see" or "hear" things as clearly as Cam and Alex, but we believe everyone senses situations before they happen — we're often too shy or nervous to act on our gut though.

Is there anything that would freak us out? Sure. Finding out we had identical twins!

Lesa: Do you have a favorite book (besides Twitches) that you can recommend for our book club?

The Thief Lord, Reviving Ophelia, Louisa May Alcott's Little Women.

CJ: One final question. Can you PLEASE give us a line from Book 7 ... something no one else has read yet?

Our favorite: "To hate, is to drink poison and expect someone else to die." And more tantalizing: "In each generation, a DuBaer will die at the hand of an Antayus."

Evan saw it first. Clarification: saw her first. On the Ol' Wagon Wheel ride. But in typical Evan-speak, he did the lame-joke thing.

"Hey, Alex," he called, leaning over the side of their creaky, swinging basket. "There's a girl two carts down who stole something from you."

Alex did a fast calculation and came up blank. Her money was in her jeans pocket. Her backpack was stashed in the gear house at the bottom of the Ferris wheel. She folded her arms across her chest, waiting for the punch line. "Okay, Ev, I'll play. What'd she steal? My Stratocaster, SUV, or cell phone?"

Evan pointed down. "Your face."

Alex rolled her eyes. "Don't quit your day job, Evan. Comedy Central is not scanning the globe for you," she said, rubbing a sudden rash of goose bumps on her arm.

Lucinda flipped around to check. "Get outta here! Alex," she shrieked. "He's right. She looks just like you-"

"Only cleaner," Evan teased.

"Could you be any less funny?" Alex challenged. But her stomach lurched nervously, or maybe it was just the cart swinging in a gust of wind. "Nobody looks like me," she declared, going along with the joke. Although -- between the goose bumps and fluttery stomach -- she was acting way cooler than she felt.
