Malory welcomed the cool breeze that swept over her as she walked down the center aisle of the barn. She hadn't wanted to call her dad while she was still mulling over Patience's words. Her dad would sense immediately that she was distracted and today wasn't the day for burdening him with any worries. So she'd escaped down to the stables to try and clear her thoughts.

There was no way she could afford to rent a pony for the summer, Malory reasoned as she studied the horses. And besides, she wasn't sure that was even an option.

A chorus of whickers came from the horses looking over their doors. Malory usually distributed pats and treats to the ponies in equal doses but today she hurried straight to Tybalt's stall, eager to be with him -- even if it was for the third time that day!
