How can we help students get excited and inspired to learn math and pursue a higher-level math education? The answer for many teachers has been by using one of today’s key influences – television – to inspire students. This allows the educator to show students “real-world” and fun examples to answer the question, “When are we ever going to use this in real life?”

Watch executive editor of Administr@tor Magazine, Kevin Hogan, in this online panel discussion with Cheryl Heuton and Nick Falacci, co-creators of the hit CBS show “NUMB3RS,” Patrick Flynn, a high school math teacher, Nancy Foote, a math curriculum specialist, Tim Gunty, a high school sophomore, and Melendy Lovett, president of Texas Instruments’ E&PS business, As they answer these questions and more.  Learn how TI’s “We All Use Math Every Day” classroom activities are encouraging thousands of teachers and students to tune into “NUMB3RS” to help demonstrate how math is used in everyday life.

“We All Use Math Every Day”
In partnership with CBS, and working in association with the NCTM, TI’s “We All Use Math Everyday” program promotes the many uses of mathematics through classroom curriculum based on “NUMB3RS.”  Each week, educators can access 15-minute math activities geared for 7-12th graders from the NUMB3RS Math Education area at CBS.com. Each activity correlates to the math used to solve crimes during the show. More than 22,000 educators and supporters have signed up to receive a free teacher kit and thousands download the activities weekly.
