Kate's DiCamillo's Favorite Books
The Wolves of Willoughby Chase by Joan Aiken
Wolves and perfidy! Orphans and bravery! All set in a time that never
was.
The Secret of Platform 13 by Eva Ibbotson
What if there were a different world? A magicial one? A world that you
could get to by entering a gump? This book is exciting and laugh-out-funny
and just plain fun.
Abel's Island by William Steig
I have to admit that I like stories about mice; this is the story of
a mouse named Abelard who gets stranded on an island. It's kind of like
Robinson Crusoe meets Stuart Little.
Charlotte's Web by E.B. White
I'd be deeply surprised if you hadn't read this already. But this story
of a friendship between a pig and spider is worth reading again. And
again. And again.
The BFG by Roald Dahl
For some reason, my library didn't have this one when I was growing
up. What a pity. I just read it for the first time last week. It made
me laugh and laugh and laugh. I am very fond of laughing.
****Disclaimer: these are five books that I love. I could name 50 more.
I'm always reading, always exploring, always finding new books that
I love.
