When Gregor falls through a grate in the laundry room of his apartment building, he hurtles into the dark Underland, where spiders, rats, cockroaches coexist uneasily with humans. Gregor wants no part of it -- until he realizes it's the only way to solve the mystery of his father's disappearance. Excerpt:
Gregor tripped out from between two smooth rock walls and landed on his hands and knees. When he raised his head, Gregor found himself looking into the largest cockroach he'd ever seen. Now, his apartment complex had some big bugs. But the creature in front of Gregor rose at least four feet in the air.

"Beeg bug!" cried Boots, and Gregor managed to close his mouth.

This book is one of the best fantasy books I have read. There is no shortage of action, no shortage of emotions, and so shortage of beautiful scenery and lots of interesting creatures.

Gregor the Overlander is an exciting book with mysteries and action. It has plenty of detail and is well written. You can tell what people think and feel.

This book is quite exciting. The genre is excellent as are all fantasy novels. When I finished reading this book, I couldn't wait for the sequel so I bought Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane.
