Children of the Lamp: The Blue Djinn of Babylon
by P.B. Kerr
John and Philippa Gaunt, twelve-year-old twins who have recently discovered themselves to be descended from a long line of djinn and in possession of magical powers, continue on their extraordinary adventures in this sequel to THE AKHENATEN ADVENTURE. When a powerful book of djinn magic goes missing, John and Philippa are called upon to retrieve it. Only, the book isn't really missing. The trap was set and Philippa is abducted by the Blue Djinn. In this latest installment of the twins' magical adventures, John and his uncle Nimrod must find Philippa before it's too late.

Excerpt:
“I want to be a witch,” said Philippa. “With lots of warts.”

“And I want to be a vampire,” said John. “With real blood on my teeth.”

“Both of you know that’s out of the question,” their mother said briskly.

“We have this argument every year,” sighed John. “I don’t see what you’ve got against it, Mom. Halloween’s just some harmless fun.”

It was really good. I liked how the author linked genie and Djinn. The Egypt part was really good. I loved this book and would have no problem reading a few more times. I didn't want to put it down. I brought it on a marching band trip even though it took up a lot of space. I thought this book was really good. I would recommend it.

I really loved this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it.
Courtney H., Age 12

It was a great book that kept me in suspense. When I wanted to put it down before you knew it I'd have my nose back in the book. It was magically awesome!!
Ashley, Age 11

I have to say this is an extraordinary adventure, which is very enticing. I could not stop reading it. I did not want the gold paint to come off so I did not touch it. I treasure it. The Djinn world is really fascinating and really interesting!!!

The story was a little slow to start, but quickly draws you in and I read it in three days because I had trouble putting it down. I can't wait for Book Two to come out!
Karlye B., Age10

I thought it was detailed (I like that in a book), and I'd recommend it to people who like magical and adventurous stories. It was hard to put down! This is a good book for a road trip or book report.
Anita L., Age12

I loved this book!!! I hope another comes out. I also hope the author writes more children’s books!!
Brie F., Age 13

I thought this book was fantastic. It was really interesting to learn more about Djinn. I know it is obviously not real but in normal fantasy you might here about dwarves or dragons or elves or fairies. I read DRAGON RIDER by Cornelia Funke and that had a Djinn in it but it wasn't the same as the AKHENATEN ADVENTURE. Mr. Kerr did a wonderful job!!!!!!!
