Eddie is a normal boy with a very strange family. Although
they seem quite crazy, Eddie still does as his elders say, as
a boy of eleven normally should, but in doing so usually ends
up in a bit of a pickle. |
A stoat is a creature that looks quite similar to a ferret.
This particular stoat is a stuffed one. He is a fairly quiet
stoat, doesn’t talk back and is an exceptional listener.

Mr. Dickens is a rather logical man. Other than being afraid
of heights and fire, he seems rather normal with just a hint
of madness.
Mrs.
Dickens is a dear, sweet woman and loving mother, but a bit
forgetful sometimes when it comes to Eddie – especially
his name! She is also a bit mad. |

Mad Uncle Jack is Eddie’s mother uncle, so he is really
Eddie’s Mad Great-Uncle Jack. He is a very, very, very
tall and very, very, very thin man who pays for things with
dried fish. He hates crowded carriages |
Even Madder Aunt Maud is Mad Uncle Jack’s wife, making
her Eddie’s Even Madder Great-Aunt Maud. She is to be
seen anywhere and everywhere accompanied by her pet stoat, Malcolm.
Although she is a bit mad, she always has perfectly reasonable
explanations for things, or at least they are reasonable in
her mind. |
