Star Ling

Her body torpedo-straight, flippers pulsing like pistons, she moves through the turquoise Caribbean with power and ease. Surely this must be an expert diver, a highly trained athlete who has fine-tuned every aspect of her physique for peak performance beneath the waves.

As she steps onto the beach – the first sour note. A stumble? No, a limp. A slight weakness of her left side, the result of a mild case of cerebral palsy. She’s handicapped!

But not underwater. As teen divers go, Star Ling is the best there is.

Yet even she might not be able to handle the danger when the deep ocean begins to give up its secrets.
