Presentation Details:
Suggested Audience: Grades 8 – 12
Maximum 3 presentations per day
I am happy to visit schools to talk about my writing in general, one or more of my books specifically, or about the war in Afghanistan. I offer an energetic presentation with a PowerPoint show that includes photos and videos about Afghanistan, most of which I made myself during my one-year tour there. I’m happy to adjust my presentation to fit your needs. Should we arrange for me to visit your school, I assume that I am available to work with or present to your students for the entire day, and I’m happy to meet with many different classrooms or groups.
Honorarium
I also request an $800.00 per diem honorarium. However, in these challenging economic times, I’m certainly willing to work with your budget. I ask that the district cover full transportation, lodgings, and expenses.
Skype
I also sometimes connect with classrooms via Skype or by other electronic means. I have an excellent computer camera and Internet connection, allowing me to conference with students and teachers, answering questions about writing, my books, or the war in Afghanistan. This method has worked very well, and I’ve been pleased with the discussions I’ve had with students from around the country. I offer 50 minute Skype sessions for $50.
