Steven Kroll has written more than 85 books for children, including the New York Times bestselling title The Biggest Easter Basket Ever. His work has been translated into French, Spanish, and Japanese.
His stories are often humorous, with lively and likable characters. His work has also focused on American historical themes. Mr. Kroll's slide presentation, "How an Idea Becomes a Book," explores his background and travels, how ideas for stories happen, and how ideas develop into books. He also reads from his work, talks about writing American history, and conducts a program in which he and a group of students create a story together. Now that he has published two historical novels for 5th grade and up, Sweet America and When I Dream of Heaven, about an Italian immigrant family, he has begun doing programs on immigration and the writing of historical fiction.
