Ruth Gruener Author Visit Kit
Ruth Gruener was a "hidden child" during the Holocaust. Her birth place is Lvov, Poland. She lived in the Lvov Ghetto for three months, after which she was hidden by a few wonderful gentile people who were willing to take a chance on their lives in order to save her own. Her memoir, Destined To Live: A True Story of a Child in the Holocaust lets readers know what it was like to come of age during the Holocaust.
Her husband Jack is a survivor of ten concentration camps and two death marches. Together, they speak to children about how important it is to be good to one another. "They must know that whatever happened to the Jewish people during the Holocaust," she says, "can happen to anybody in the world if they don't remember that we are all equal in God's eyes. My mission is to bring this message to as many people as I can."
