Peter Lerangis Author Visit Kit
Short Bio
Peter Lerangis is the author of The Sword Thief and The Viper's Nest, Books 3 and 7 in the bestselling multi-media adventure series The 39 Clues. He has written more than 150 books for young readers in many different genres. He's also a Broadway musical theater actor/singer, a marathon runner, and a father of two sons. He currently lives in New York City.
Presentation Details
Suggested Audience: K – 6
Maximum 3 presentations per day
Kids will see Peter’s first elementary-school attempt at writing a novel (and learn why they should never name a character Negloglagleeglogleggook)! They’ll discover why editing is like a lettuce sandwich. They’ll follow a book from initial idea to publication …and beyond. And they’ll help Peter solve the mystery of the world’s strangest book cover. In addition, they’ll also enjoy some embarrassing photos and hear a score of different people from all over the world, in more-or-less-accurate accents. (He is a Broadway actor after all!) In their time together (usually 45 minutes to an hour), Peter will cover a lot of ground, with anecdotes, visual aids, and lots of laughs.
Conferences & Festivals
Peter frequently speaks to adult groups of educators at state and national conferences and festivals and enjoys giving keynote addresses as well as breakout sessions and panel discussion groups. Previously, Peter has conducted workshops for the National Book Foundation, the Highlights Foundation, and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and once, for the international writers’ organization, PEN. AV Tech Needs
Peter brings his own laptop computer, but will need a projector to plug into along with a screen to project onto. He also hopes for a good microphone and a glass of water.
Virtual Visits
Peter is happy to drop in for a 20-minute virtual visit and Q&A with book groups and library groups that have read at least one of his books using Skype or iChat. Request a visit.
