Norma Fox Mazer Author Visit Kit
Norma Fox Mazer has written more than 30 novels, one of which was the Newbery Honor book, After the Rain. For school visits, she brings a slide, show, informal and intimate, showing her family, her home, and other places she's lived and worked. With each slide, she tells another story about real events and people, showing ow life and fiction intertwine. The questions and comments afterward are always enthusiastic. As much as she delights in helping turn kids on to reading, she likes speaking to adults, especially librarians and teachers. She is available to speak at local and regional conferences.
Her novel, When She Was Good, was one of School Library Journal's 1997 Best Books of the Year and has also been selected by the editors' of Booklist and Booklinks as one of the best books of 1997. Voice of Youth Advocates states "This is a powerful and moving story that belongs in all YA collections." Booklist said of her most recent book, Goodnight, Maman, "Mazer writes with a simplicity that personalizes the history... direct... honest.
