Short Bio:
Matthew J. Kirby was named a Publishers Weekly Flying Start for his acclaimed debut novel, The Clockwork Three. He was born in Utah and grew up in Maryland, California, and Hawaii. As an undergraduate Kirby majored in history, and then went on to pursue an MS in school psychology. For ten months out of the year he works with students, and during the rest of the year, he writes. As an educator, Matthew enjoys meeting and presenting to students, and his multimedia presentations focus on the importance of stories and literacy. He uses his experience becoming a professional writer to encourage students to pursue their dreams, whatever they might be, and become the heroes of their own story.
He is also willing to guide small writing workshops of up to ten students from Grades 5-7.
Virtual Visits:
Matthew is happy to drop in for a 20-minute virtual visit and Q&A via Skype or iChat with book groups and library groups that have read at least one of his books. Request a visit.
Conferences & Festivals:
Matthew frequently speaks to adult groups of educators at statewide and national events. He enjoys giving keynote addresses as well as doing break out sessions for smaller groups and panel discussions with other authors.
