Professional novelist by day and artist by night, Maggie Stiefvater is the author of the Books of Faerie (Lament and Ballad); the bestselling Shiver trilogy (Shiver, Linger, Forever), as well as The Scorpio Races and The Raven Boys. Presentation Description
Suggested Audience Grades 7 - 12

Bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater's humorous presentations focus on goals -- how she uses them in her writing, and how teens can apply them to their lives. Peppered with anecdotes about her writing life and travels, Maggie describes how ideas come to her, life as an author, and how goals helped her to write her bestselling books and stay true to her dream of an unorthodox life as an author, artist and musician. Visual presentations of Maggie's animation and artwork engage artistic students. A reading and Q & A accompany each session. Larger group sessions are generally 45 minutes to 1 hour long.

Book Clubs & Creative Writing Sessions
Round table sessions deal more with the nitty-gritty of writing and the creative life and focus on student participation and improving individual students' creative experience; small sessions are best suited for book clubs or creative writing students.

2 large groups & 1 roundtable/ book club

Honorarium
$3,000 per day plus expenses (lodging, travel, meals, and ground transportation)
$300 30-minute Skype session with Book Clubs and Reading Groups
