Brief Bio

Kimberley Griffiths Little is the recipient of the Southwest Book Award and the Whitney Award for Best Youth Novel of 2010. Her novels have received starred reviews from School Library Journal, and have been listed with Bank Street College Best Books of 2011. She is a graduate of the Institute of Children’s Literature and is a member of SCBWI, The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, SWW, Southwest Writers.

Program Description

Workshop: “Enchanted Journeys” (Writing Process)

Suggested Audience Grades 4 – 8

Join Kimberley on a trip across time to explore the magic of unique settings and history as well as learning the process of becoming a professional writer. Using a PowerPoint show and favorite books (including some unique Show n' Tell!), Kimberley brings the writing process to life: how to hook your reader, create a story, and do research and revision. Workshop: “The Creative Diary” (Writing Workshop)

Suggested Audience Grades 3 – 8

Students will discover the joy of their Imagination and the writing process. During this workshop, they will produce two short stories. Dig into the Imagination Box, go on a wild journey through your own mind and then write, write, write! Fun and provocative exercises that will get the writing juices flowing. Even reluctant writers will love this fresh approach! Groups of up to 200 can be accommodated. A library works well, of course, but the gym or cafeteria can also be used. Request a visit.

 

Conferences & Festivals

Kimberley frequently speaks to adult groups of educators at state and national conferences and festivals and enjoys giving keynote addresses as well as breakout sessions and panel discussion groups. Previously, she has spoken at NMLA, SIBA, Tucson Book Festival, IRA and SCBWI conferences. Request a visit.

 

Virtual Visits

Kimberley is happy to drop in for a 20-45 minute virtual visit and Q&A with book groups and library groups that have read at least one of her books using Skype or iChat. Kimberley offers 50 minute Skype sessions for $100. And will offer 50 minute Skype sessions for no charge for each 30 book classroom set a school orders. Request a visit.
