Committed to historical accuracy as well as emotional authenticity, she draws on her extensive travels and varied work experiences to make history relatable to modern teens. Presented in a format of what the audience might do to become an author, but detailing the author’s own experiences, this presentation covers primarily inspiration and the writing/publishing process, but can be tailored to include a talk and/or workshop on revision. Katherine is prepared for lively post-presentation discussions and asks that students come armed with questions and be prepared to answer some, too.

Historical fiction is a balance of fact and imagination, but in truth, so is all fiction. Katherine Longshore explains how to use research, psychology, personal and sensory experiences to enhance the telling of any story.
This is a book chat discussing the journey from idea to bookshelf, including research and editing with a short, illustrative reading. There will be an emphasis on discussion, so come armed with questions!
