Short Bio:
Jake Bell first decided he wanted to be a writer when he was seven years old. When he was 35, his first book, The Amazing Adventures of Nate Banks: Secret Identity Crisis, hit store shelves. In the years between, he tried and failed to do many things, and it was only by trying and failing that he finally achieved his childhood dream. Visit www.jakebell.com.

Schedule:
Jake Bell is currently available for author visits through Fall 2012. Request a visit.

Presentation Description:
Target Audience: Grades 3-6
3 Presentations per day maximum

During his 45-minute presentation Jake encourages students to embrace failure. Through stories about his writing (and non-writing) career and the publishing process from idea to publication, Jake illustrates how he could have never achieved his success without a few failures along the way. Students will leave Jake’s presentation knowing that failure teaches valuable lessons. Jake encourages students to try new things and embrace failure as a challenge to do improve rather than being discouraged. In addition, Jake also hosts workshops for groups of 30 to 40 students where he walks students through the entire publishing process from idea to development.

Conferences & Festivals:
Jake frequently speaks to adult groups of educators at state and national conferences and festivals and enjoys giving keynote addresses as well as breakout sessions and panel discussion groups. Request a visit.

Virtual Visits:
Jake is happy to drop in for a 20-minute virtual visit and Q&A with book groups and library groups that have read at least one of his books using Skype or iChat. Request a visit.

Honorarium:
$300 per day plus travel and lodging when an overnight stay is required.

Ordering Books:
Schools and libraries may order books at a discounted rate by visiting the Scholastic Teacher Store or by calling 1-800-SCHOLASTIC.
