Short Bio:
Elisha is the award-winning author of Farm, A Good Night Walk, and Homer. Beach won the 2006 Society of Illustrators Gold Medal. Dance! was a New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year. His books have been read. He has visited schools. If allowed, he will draw on your school’s walls. Visit Elisha at www.elishacooper.com and Like Elisha on Facebook.

Presentation Details:
Suggested audience: Grades K-3
For groups of K-1st graders, Elisha’s presentation focuses on reading from his books, drawing whatever the children ask him to draw, and generally making a fool of himself. Elisha’s focus with younger students is seeing how many colds he can acquire. The presentation lasts until Elisha starts sneezing.

For 2nd grade and up, Elisha’s presentation focuses on reading from his books, and engaging the students in questions about the book’s content. With Farm, for instance, there are usually discussions about where food comes from (N.B. bagels do not come from a bagel tree). Other popular discussions: how books are made, and how publishing works.

AV Tech Needs:
Elisha Cooper does not know what AV means. Nor does he want to. He will, however, draw on walls. Have we mentioned that he likes drawing on walls?

Conferences & Festivals:
Conferences sound scary to Elisha Cooper. Festivals sound festive! Make of that what you will.

Honorarium:
Elisha Cooper dislikes the word “honorarium” as it sounds big and pretentious and speaking to children is both enjoyable and an honor (whoops, he just used the word “honor”!). Elisha Cooper is easily cajoled. He lives in New York, but has been known to get in a car and drive great distances. Elisha is flabbergasted that other authors ask for $1500 or $2000 dollars a day. That is too much. He will take $500 dollars and like it (though he will take $1000 dollars and like it twice as much). He likes visiting schools. And, yes, drawing on walls.
