Engaging, insightful, and wickedly funny, Mitzi Miller and Denene Millner bring a unique perspective to the world of writing, drawing on their numerous collaborations-from their days toiling as editors at Honey magazine to their most recent project as co-authors of the hip new teen fiction series, "Hotlanta"-to get tweens and teens thoroughly enthralled with the genre. In an exciting back-and-forth presentation that at times feels like a verbal version of an interpretive dance, Miller and Millner speak candidly about how they became writers, their collaborative process, the inspiration behind the stories they've penned, including countless celebrity profiles, screenplays, and their critically-acclaimed books, and their never ending quest to bring diverse but inclusive stories about and for African Americans, young women, and teenagers to their audiences. Look to Miller and Millner to engage their audiences with:
- An interactive, dramatic presentation of Hotlanta, with details on how the story was developed, the lessons learned by the characters, and a lively Q&A in which the authors get their audience to spill on-and think about-the relationships, friendships, and familial bonds as they relate to the Hotlanta characters and, ultimately, themselves.
- An exhibition of and discussion about their work as entertainment journalists covering some of the today's hottest, most recognizable stars, plus details on how to get the biggest scoops and most memorable stories for some of the nation's biggest news organizations, including Vibe, Essence, Entertainment Weekly, Men's Fitness, Vogue, and celebrity TV channels like MTV, VH-1, BET, and The Today Show.
- An interactive presentation on their story creating process-from their days as editors and journalists, to their work as authors-culminating in audience collaboration on an original story created by the authors and audience members.
