"I honestly don't think that an appearance by Derek Jeter would have caused more excitement!,"raved a librarian after Dan Greenburg appeared at her school. Dan's 70 books have been translated into 20 languages in 23 countries. His children's series, MAXIMUM BOY is published by Scholastic. Also available through the Scholastic Book Club are other Greenburg series, including THE ZACK FILES, WEIRD PLANET, SECRETS OF DRIPPING FANG, and the exciting new novel, CLAWS.
During the presentations, Dan tries to get students, especially reluctant readers, excited about books - about writing them as well as reading them. He teaches kids how to structure and write a story. Drawing on his background in performing (Dan has been a stand-up comedian on national TV, and has acted small roles in half a dozen movies), he tells stories from his adventures in a variety of voices that the children find hilarious.
Some of his hair-raising adventures that inspired his books include: visiting a house under poltergeist attack, flying upside down with a stunt pilot, exploring the most active volcano in the world, teaching dolphins language, and timing tigers on a ranch in Texas by smacking them on the nose. After Dan visited a school in Hastings, NY, one girl wrote: "You really inspired me! By the time you left I was swimming in a sea of ideas!"
