C. Alexander London Author Visit Kit
C. Alexander London is an author of books for children, teens and adults. In addition to the Dog Tags and Tides of War series, he writes The Wild Ones and Accidental Adventures novels for young readers. His young adult debut, Proxy, is an American Library Association Top Ten Quick Pick for Reluctant Young Readers When he is not writing books, he can usually be found walking around New York City talking to his dog.
Alex loves sharing his journey from reluctant reader to author and exploring his books with students in a lively, interactive, and fun presentation. He is also happy to lead writing workshops for smaller groups, sharing some tricks of the trade.
For a half-day visit, we ask that there be no more than 2 sessions, including workshops and/or assemblies with at least 10 minutes of downtime between each.
For a full-day visit, we ask that there be no more than 4 sessions, including workshops and assemblies, with at least 10 minutes of downtime between each.
Alex is more than happy to have lunch with students and/or teachers but for a full day visit we ask that a reasonable time be set aside for Alex to eat without students (as he tends not get a chance to actually eat when the students are so excited!).
Ideal Age Range and Group Size
Alex has written books for a broad age range and is comfortable speaking to groups of any size from thrid grade through high school. Each age has its own interests and needs, however, so separate presentations for students in elementary, middle, and high school are, of course, the norm.
For workshops the same age ranges apply, but the groups would ideally be limited to no more than 25 students.
Conferences & Festivals:
C. Alexander London loves attending librarian and educator conferences as a speaker and does so frequently.
For assemblies and workshops, a microphone (if deemed necessary for the space) and a projector for a PowerPoint Presentation. Alex will bring the presentation on a flash drive and his laptop.
Alex does charge an honorarium for appearances. Please contact the Scholastic Author Visits team for information.
