C. Alexander London Author Visit Kit
C. Alexander London is an author of books for children and adults. In addition to the Dog Tags and Tides of War series, he writes the Accidental Adventures novels for young readers and books like One Day the Soldiers Came: Voices of Children in War for older readers. When he is not writing books, he can usually be found walking around New York City talking to his dog.
For a half-day visit, we ask that there be no more than 2 sessions, including workshops and/or assemblies with at least 10 minutes of downtime between each.
For a full-day visit, we ask that there be no more than 4 sessions, including workshops and assemblies, with at least 10 minutes of downtime between each.
Alex is more than happy to have lunch with students and/or teachers but for a full day visit we ask that a reasonable time be set aside for Alex to eat without students (as he tends not get a chance to actually eat when the students are so excited!).
Ideal Age Range and Group Size
Alex has written books for a broad age range and is comfortable speaking to groups of any size from thrid grade through high school. Each age has its own interests and needs, however, so separate presentations for students in elementary, middle, and high school are, of course, the norm.
For workshops the same age ranges apply, but the groups would ideally be limited to no more than 25 students.
Conferences & Festivals:
C. Alexander London loves attending librarian and educator conferences as a speaker and does so frequently.
For assemblies and workshops, a microphone (if deemed necessary for the space) and a projector for a PowerPoint Presentation. Alex will bring the presentation on a flash drive and his laptop.
Full Day: $2,500 or save if a good faith effort is made to have ALL the kids read (or have read to them) some or all of at least one of his books, $2000
Half Day: $1,500
Travel Expenses: Schools will also be responsible for the following expenses: one (1) roundtrip ticket from NYC with the best available nonstop transportation at time of ticketing, transportation to and from airport/train station; local ground transportation expenses (a rental car in most cities; public transit or school volunteer in certain select cases); and hotel accommodation as needed.
