  • How to plan an author visit

Angie Frazier grew up reading Nancy Drew mysteries, Christopher Pike thrillers, "Choose Your Own Adventure " books, and the Little House on the Prairie series. When it came to writing her own stories, it seemed natural to blend together everything she loved in a good book! Her first novel, a young adult historical fantasy Everlasting (June 2010) is a high seas adventure laced with romance and magi9c. Her first middle grade novel, The Midnight Tunnel: A Suzanna Snow Mystery (March 2011) took shape after Angie visited the historic Fairmont Algonquin Hotel in St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, New Brunswick. She knew she'd found the perfect place to set a mystery starring a young, aspiring detective who stumbles into a kidnapping plot. Visit Angie's website at AngieFrazier.com for more on her upcoming books.

Angie begins her presentations discussing the books she read while growing up that had a big impact on her. The presentation will be interactive and includes a lot of questions form the audience, always bringing the conversation back to why books and the characters from them hold a certain kind of magic over readers. She also discusses her writing journey-from her first short stories, to her first published book-and what challenges and rewards almost every writer encounters along the way. Her presentations include visual material, including books, magazines, and marked up manuscripts for students to look at.
