Choose from the following activities:
- With a friend, make up a conversation between two of the main characters in the book. Use as many British words and phrases as possible to imitate the language of The Wind in the Willows.
- Make a drawing of one of the rooms in Badger's or Mole's house. Carefully reread the description of the room in the story and include these details in your picture. On a notecard, identify the room and what part of the story takes place there.
- Pretend that you are the judge hearing the case against Toad for stealing the motor car. Write the reasons for your verdict in the case, and read it aloud to the class.
- Imagine that you are Toad writing a letter to Badger, Mole, and Rat from prison. Using Toad's point of view and style of language, describe how you feel about prison and about having been put there.
