PETS ON PARADE (Role Playing)
Divide the class in half. Tell one group that they will be the pet owners, and the other group will be the judges. Have the owners cut out pictures of pets and mount them on cardboard. Then have them attach their cardboard pets to long dowels (a round rod or stick). While the owners are doing this, have the judges agree what categories they will present awards for: cutest, ugliest, biggest, smallest, furriest, etc. Have the judges make blue ribbons to hand out. When everyone is ready, have the owners parade their pets in front of the judges. Ask them to tell something special about their pet. Then have the judges vote and hand out the awards.
