About this book
- The Surprise Garden by Zoe Hall
- assorted seeds
- strips of white construction paper, approximately 1"X 8"
Set Up and Prepare
Take a look at the end papers. The ones in the front feature seeds, while the end papers on the back feature grown fruits, vegetables, and flowers. With younger students, it may be easier for them to glue the seeds by using toothpicks or Q-tips to dip into the glue.
Demonstrate for students how to create a pattern by placing the seeds on the strips of paper. Using small dabs of glue, attach the seeds to the paper strips. Give students time to create and glue their own patterns. When they are done, have students share their patterns with their classmates.
Students can use colored pencils and paper strips to record their patterns.
