Grow a Plant
MATERIALS:
- Beans or other seeds
- Potting soil
- Paper cups or pots
SUGGESTED GROUPING:
- Cooperative groups, partners, or individuals
LET children plant beans or other seeds in paper cups or pots. Children can place the cups in sunlight, water them, and watch the seeds grow.
ENCOURAGE children to plant different beans or seeds and to label the cups. Then they can start observation journals by drawing pictures of their seeds.
HAVE children record changes in their plants by drawing pictures and writing what happened in their observation journals.
ENCOURAGE children to share their observation journals. You may also wish to have them display their journals in a class library.
