BEFORE READING Take a votehow many children like popcorn? Do they like it plain? with butter? with salt? warm or cold? Graph students' responses.

AFTER READING Now take another votehow many children like pizza? Do they like it plain? with a topping? If so, what are the more popular toppings? Make another graph of students' responses. Then have students compare the popcorn graph to the pizza graph. Ask questions such as: Which is the more popular food? How many children like it? How many more (or fewer) children like pizza with pepperoni than pizza with peppers? How many children like buttered popcorn?
