New Perspective Nature Paintings
Invite the class to notice how Owl Moon's illustrator showed us the woodland walk from a variety of perspectives (from above, from far away, up close, etc.). Have students take notebooks and pencils outdoors. Then have them lie down under trees and observe how the trees look from this new angle. Have them draw rough sketches of their trees from that angle. Back in class, discuss the experience and observations. Use the sketches to help create full-color paintings similar to those in Owl Moon.
